Curiosity and a willingness to learn are critical success factors in life and in business - after 20 years of international corporate life, including extensive periods living in Japan and the USA, we returned home to our native Scotland to establish a new style of Business Getting consultancy and put down roots in our home country.
The last decade since establishing Shinergise has been a fascinating whirlwind journey in which I've had great pleasure in sharing the global business leadership skills that I had developed in 20 years working for and with Unilever, P&G and ICI (now AkzoNobel). Since establishing the consultancy, I've found myself leading A&M activities including leading the multi-million divestment of a subsidiary operating in the high tech area of natural materials and advising on a project to secure a minority investor who brings new skills, experiences and opportunities as well as a sizeable multi-million equity investment.
Running a highly successful Customer Value Proposition programme for a major multinational has vied with building the Sustainability strategy for a company that now has almost 10,000 employees. During this time, critical insights have been gained with smaller regional companies around the globe and in visiting markets and consumers' homes in four continents.
This experience allows Shinergise Partners to critically and honestly address key challenges facing international businesses. Together with our clients, we work to discover and develop the individual and colleactive capabilities of globally diverse teams to achieve unprecedented success and deliver above-target results. Our target is always to achieve impressive breakthroughs in terms of results delivered. We aim to create a new sense of energy fuelling new INNOVATION within their business getting and product development teams.
Thirty years of genuinely global experience leaves me constantly amazed at what opportunities we have enjoyed and that experience has provided fuel for innovative business models and team coaching approaches that can be applied to any organisation that is operating internationally. Equally lessons learnt from five years spent in the USA leading a record-setting global team brought further insights and experience that can be applied to key account management teams in a multitude of business environments.
Our High Level Negotiations Course
At Shinergise, we believe that LEADERSHIP demands that individuals as well as teams are motivated, recognized and rewarded. Equally leadership is a requirement at all levels in businesses and it is not a one-way top-down process.
Top-down leaders succeed in the short term but lack the empathy and communication skills needed to win the trust and confidence of those who follow them, often with disastrous consequences for the business in the longer term. Short term results can be flattered via restructuring initiatives, temporary cost-cutting measures and slashing headcount. The Shinergise ethos means that to be really successful demands in-depth understanding, the ability to continuously inspire and the confidence to grow new leaders at all levels to serve the future needs of the business.
Key to inspirational leadership is INTEGRITY and at Shinergise we believe that integrity is everything; there is no acceptable compromise when it comes to integrity.
We do not condone actions that breach corporate ethics codes, neither of employers nor of their clients, and when it comes to professional integrity we do not accept activities that "bend the rules". We bring to our clients integrity and complete confidentiality - we only work with clients who have similar values. We respect the confidential data our clients share with us and we create an environment of trust that enables individuals and teams to deliver beyond expectations.
Welcome to Shinergise, our associates and I look forward to learning and winning with you.
Hamish Taylor graduated from Edinburgh University in 1987 with a degree in Chemistry and a passion for business. He joined Unilever as part of their graduate programme and spent the next 19 years working for their Quest International fragrances subsidiary. In 1989 he was posted to Japan for the first time, an experience that led to a further three years spent in Japan (1991-94) where he fulfilled Sales and Marketing leadership roles.
After three years of European and global account management experience, Quest was bought from Unilever by ICI in 1997 after which Hamish once again returned to Japan. He led the Asia Pacific Creative Development function in addition to significant account management leadership in Japan and Asia.
Having worked for and with Unilever as a client for some 15 years, in 2002 he moved to the USA to take on global responsibility for Quest's business with Procter & Gamble. Fuelled by a strong identification with P&G's "Connect & Develop" approach to product innovation, his global team won internal and external recognition for creative success. Having fulfilled various business leadership roles in Europe, Asia and the USA, Hamish joined the Fragrance Division executive leadership team in 2006.
After the acquisition of Quest by Givaudan, Hamish left the business in June 2007 to establish Shinergise Partners Ltd.
